Grounded beginnings for spiritual alignment.
Welcome to Week 1 of the Sacred Spaces 7-Week Chakra Challenge!
This journey is designed to help you balance and align each of your seven main chakras—one week at a time—with simple daily practices, mindful activities, and holistic wellness. We’re starting at the foundation: the Root Chakra, or Muladhara.
What Is the Root Chakra?
The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine and is your energetic anchor. It governs your sense of safety, security, survival, and belonging. When balanced, you feel grounded, stable, and connected to your body and the Earth.
Color: Red
Element: Earth
Mantra: “I am safe. I am grounded. I belong.”
Signs Your Root Chakra Needs Balancing:
Anxiety or fear
Financial stress or instability
Feeling disconnected or “floaty”
Hoarding or over-attachment to material things
Trouble focusing or committing to routines
This Week’s Focus:
To nourish your Root Chakra, we’re focusing on practices that bring your awareness back to the present moment, your body, and your space.
Daily Practices:
1. Grounding Activity:
Take a 15-minute walk in nature each day. Walk barefoot if possible. Feel the earth beneath you, notice the sounds, and breathe deeply.
2. Root-Focused Foods:
Eat grounding, earthy foods like root vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes, garlic), hearty grains (brown rice, oats), and warming spices (cinnamon, ginger). No beets required!
3. Mindful Movement:
Try yoga poses like Mountain Pose, Warrior I, or Child’s Pose. These postures connect you to your lower body and help anchor your energy.
4. Meditation:
Do a 5-10 minute meditation each day with the mantra “I am grounded.” Visualize red energy glowing at the base of your spine, expanding with each breath.
5. Clean & Declutter:
Clear one small area of your home each day. A tidy environment supports a tidy mind and signals your subconscious that you are safe and in control.
6. Journaling Prompt:
“What makes me feel safe, stable, and supported?”
Answer honestly and reflect on what needs to shift to feel more secure in your life.
7. Fasting Window:
We suggest trying a gentle 12:12 intermittent fasting schedule (12 hours of eating, 12 hours of fasting) to help you build rhythm and discipline without restriction.
Suggested Tools for Root Chakra Work:
Crystals: Red jasper, garnet, black tourmaline, smoky quartz
Essential Oils: Cedarwood, patchouli, clove, vetiver
Affirmations:
I am deeply rooted.
I am supported by the Earth.
I trust in the process of life.
Final Thoughts:
Week 1 is all about coming home to yourself—to your body, your breath, and the Earth. By stabilizing your Root Chakra, you lay the energetic foundation for everything else in your life to thrive. Take this week slow, intentionally, and with compassion.
